On average, Community Tax charges clients between $2,500 and $5,000, but it all depends on the type of service they are supplying and the extent of the issue at hand.
The refund policy, just like the pricing, also varies from case to case. There is a 3-7 day period where the client is able to get a full refund for the amount that was paid upfront. Nevertheless, refund policies depend on the payment plans specific to each client. This is something that you will beed to discuss during the initial assessment and something that you should get in writing.
Community Tax Relief will not turn clients away because of their inability to pay large upfront fees. The staff will help individuals set up a payment plan that fits each unique financial situation, ensuring that everyone can gain access to their invaluable services should they need them. If you want to take advantage of their tax debt services, however, then you may need to have a minimum tax debt of $7,000, although this can also vary.
Community Tax LLC have many CPA on staff and you will also find a number of highly-experienced and knowledgable tax attorneys, just what you need to prepare you for your battle with the IRS. There are four cofounders–all of which are experienced legal professionals–still working within the business, and they also have over 2 dozen lower tier employees who deal with the day to day operations. They are very open about all of this and you can find full details on every member of the Community Tax LLC team on this page.
Our Community Tax LLC Review
We tasked our researchers with looking at Community Tax LLC over an extended period and you can read details of their findings below. This Community Tax LLC review was first penned in late 2017, but has been rewritten and updated many times since and will continue to be updated as new information comes in. After all, companies come and go, they change, they update, and they switch hands, so it's important to stay on top of all these things.
- Licensed attorney
- Free consultation
- Educational articles
Community Tax have a history of very good customer support and are a shining example of what a good company is in this sector. They provide each customer with a state licensed attorney, a legal assistant, and a case manager, ensuring they have someone experienced, and knowledgable of their case, to chat with every step of the way. They are so confident in their abilities to do this that they guarantee a 24-hour response to all phone calls and emails.
A consultation is offered free of charge to all prospective customers. During this initial consultation a tax specialist will help consumers find the best and most affordable option to solve their problems. Whether you are a business seeking bookkeeping services, or you are a consumer simply looking for help to resolve your tax debt, their experienced team members are on hand to find the most appropriate solutions.
There is a flat-fee fee for the investigation services offered by Community Tax. Another flat-fee is also charged to cover the cost of the services provided by the representative that follows you throughout the program.
In reference to these fees, Community Tax (CTAX) states that it would be “irresponsible to provide such an estimate,” due to the fact that each case is unique. Although we would like to have some sort of understanding of the costs, we do appreciate the company’s efforts to be honest and upfront about why they can't be shown.
They also offer a refund policy to compensate for the lack of pricing information, giving clients the chance to back out after a couple of days. If they do back out then they will be refunded the upfront costs and any additional costs for services that were not provided.
This company makes a proactive effort to educate their clients with resources and educational articles pertaining to taxing logistics. We really like to see this and think it sets a good company apart from an average. The lack of helpful resources is one of our pet peeves in the debt settlement and debt management industries, as it shows that the companies don't really care about the client and aren't interested in helping them maintain financial freedom. It's less of an issue here, but it's still good to see that CTAX have gone the extra mile.
CTAX is also active on social media platforms and makes an effort to post as often as possible.
- Time in business
- Lack of transparency
Time in Business
Community Tax was founded in 2010, making them a relatively young company when compared to many of their competitors like Tax Defense Network (although they are just as established as highly rated companies like Accredited Tax Solutions).
Unfortunately, they do not offer their services to residents in Minnesota, North Dakota, or West Virginia.
Lack of Transparency
We do like the fact that Community Tax charges flat-rate fees, as it means there is no nasty surprise when the bill lands. However, they are not very transparent with regards to how much these flat-rate fees are. We do not know what the flat-rate fee is for the investigative services, or what the fee is for filing a tax return. To an extent, we understand that each situation is unique, but we would still like to see some kind of range in order to have a general idea of what to expect.
The Bottom Line
Community Tax offers a wide range of tax services and in many areas they stand head and shoulders above their rivals. They have been around for just under a decade at the time of writing, but in that time they have resolved big cases and have cleared over $250 million in tax debt, the sort of numbers we would expect to see from companies that have been around a lot longer than they have.
We recommend trying their free consultation out and letting an expert look over your case, but make sure you get a written quote outlining the prices for both the investigative services and the program fees before you sign on the dotted line.
