Car Insurance Companies from # to F

21st Century

This is an online car insurance company that serves the states of Hawaii and California and is backed by Farmers Insurance. They offer free roadside assistance but they score very low when it comes to customer satisfaction and only offer policies for 6 months.

AAA Insurance

A complete car insurance company that serves all 50 states and is known for having excellent customer service and 24-hour claims.

Allied

They offer a wealth of policies in most American states, with customizable options and a host of additional benefits. However, they are a bit behind the times when it comes to online car insurance and there are no online quotes or online accounts for you to manage.

AllState

As the name suggests, this car insurance company services all states and provides you with your own dedicated agent to help you find the best deal and expedite your claims. They don’t always score highly with regards to customer service though.

Chubb

They serve all 50 states and have quick online claims. They offer coverage for luxury and classic cars, but not new cars and there are no online quotes. They do have great customer service though and are often commended for this.

Direct Auto

They serve 13 states, including Florida and Texas, and they have flexible payment options and discounts. However, you can only make claims over the phone and they often score poorly with regards to customer service.

Erie

They only serve a dozen states, but they are often regarded as one of the cheapest car insurance companies in the United States and they provide a number of additional benefits, with online bill payments and more.

Elephant

A car insurance company that only serves four states (Illinois, Maryland, Texas and Virginia), but is comprehensive, affordable, and often ranked highly when it comes to cost, customer service an all the other hallmarks of a quality company.

Farmers

This company is one of the biggest players in the industry and is a parent company for several smaller ones, including 21st Century. They serve all 50 states, offer a huge number of packages, allow claims to be made over the phone and online, and have personalized support from over 50,000 agents across the United States.

Car Insurance Companies from G to L

GEICO

The second-largest car insurance company in the United States everyone has heard of GEICO and may of you will have had experience with them before. They operate in all states and are as comprehensive and affordable as you would expect a giant of the industry to be. However, their customer support is often ranked very low and this is the biggest issue that customers have with them.

Hanover

A customer-friendly company that ticks a lot of boxes for many policyholders and has a host of benefits and affordable policies to offer. Customers do complain that there is too much paperwork though and that their policies can be overly complicated at times.

Infinity

This company prides itself on offering coverage when other companies won’t, which means it could be a good last resort. However, it isn’t the cheapest and it only operates in four states, Arizona, California, Florida and Texas.

Kemper

A provider that operates in over a dozen states and makes the process of getting car insurance very easy. They do not have the best customer support though and they can costly when you start adding additional benefits.

Liberty Mutual

One of the highest ranked car insurance companies in the United States, Liberty Mutual provide a host of benefits and features, they offer discounts for many demographics, professions and cars, and they are also affordable. It’s very hard to pick fault with anything that they do.

MetLife

They operate in all 50 states and provide an array of benefits and affordable policy options. Despite this, they have a very low customer satisfaction score, which suggests that they don’t have the best support.

Car Insurance Companies from M to R

Mercury

Mercury can be found in fewer than a dozen states, including California, Florida and New York. They will cover new cars, but they only accept claims made over the phone.

Nationwide

One of the car insurance companies that regularly makes it onto Top Five and Top Ten lists, Nationwide gets a lot right and tends to keep most of its customer-base happy. However, it is not available in all states.

National General

You can signup for National General in all 50 states, you can make claims online and you can find affordable policies whoever you are. They process things fairly quickly and offer a range of discounts to bring those prices down even more.

Plymouth Rock

This provider is quick and they have a network of local agents to hasten the process even more and to make it easier for their customers. However, they only operate in handful of states and some of their prices can seem a bit steep.

Progressive

These guys promise to cover pretty much anything that runs, including new cars, classic cars and more. They operate in all 50 states, offer free roadside assistance and let you make claims over the phone and online. There is very little that these guys get wrong, which is why we recommend them as the first port-of-call for anyone looking for affordable car insurance.

Root

If you are a good driver with a record to prove it then you could get full-coverage without breaking the bank at Root.

Car Insurance Companies from S to Z

Serenity

Serenity are one of the few car insurance companies out there that focus only on high-risk drivers, including those who have picked up DUIs in the past. It has a large network and can usually help those high risk drivers out, but their policies don’t come cheap.

State Farm

One of the biggest insurers in the United States, with a host of policies for life insurance and home insurance, as well as auto insurance. They have comprehensive policies, provide deals on bundles, and let you make claims through the phone, email, their website, and with one of their thousands of national agents.

The General

There are areas in which The General seem to be a bit behind the times, but they are a good option for affordable insurance and offer advanced policies.

The Hartford

These guys offer a host of policies and discounts and if you are a senior with a good driving record you can save a lot of money by shopping with them.

USAA

A car insurance provider for members of the military and their family, with discounts, comprehensive packages and the ability to make claims quickly and easily through their app. They operate in all 50 states and offer solid support online.

Western Association of Automobile Insurance

This is a network that helps high-risk drivers find suitable policies from suitable providers. The policies, the features and the prices differ greatly depending on which provider you are connected with, but this is a good option if you are high-risk and you are struggling to find a good deal.
