McCarthy Law PLC is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, and operates across 31 states in the US. It is an attorney-based debt relief company, specializing in negotiating with creditors over unsettled debts. Their goal is to reduce those debts as much as possible, and to save the client as lot of money in the process.
In addition to their debt settlement program, McCarthy Law provides specific debt services related to credit cards, mortgages, and student loans. The company does not have any accreditations that we could find, which is a bit of a concern, nor do they provide information on their prices. However, they are licensed attorneys and we did find many positives worth highlighting.
We will discuss these pros, as well as all of the cons, in our McCarthy Law review below. Keep reading to learn more.

McCarthy Law are a relatively small company based in Phoenix, Arizona. They have settled large amounts of debt over the course of 15+ years, but in terms of size and reach they don't come close to some of the biggest names in this industry, including Freedom Debt, Money Management and Pacific Debt.
McCarthy Law PLC offers a number of services relating to debt reduction, debt settlement, and debt management. If you are in one of the following states then you can use one of these services: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, MD, LA, MI, MA, MN, MS, MO, NV, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.
There is a minimum debt requirement of $10,000 before you can register for debt settlement with McCarthy Law.
We discuss the issues with McCarthy Law's pricing in our review below. The biggest of these is simply the fact that they do not list detailed prices on their website, but there are also reports from former customers that McCarthy Law charge fees prior to the debts being settlement. These are most likely admin fees, but they are still fees and they are still a concern.
We've seen some websites describing McCarthy Law as a large company, with dozens of offices across the United States and a reach that rivals some of the biggest debt settlement companies in the industry. We can't seem to find the same information and as far as we can tell they are a relatively small private practice, with a handful of employees at best and one or two offices at most.
There have not been any negative reports from these employees, but at the same time there aren't a great number of them to leave bad reviews in the first place.
There are some mixed reviews out there for McCarthy Law, but there aren't a great number of reviews in the first place. The review sites that do have pages on McCarthy Law only have two or three reviews and these are mostly positive, but with so few reviews that really doesn't mean anything. We don't want to suggest for a moment that they are not legitimate, but they could easily be from friends, family, employees and even owners, so it's hard to glean too much honest information from such a small number of reviews.

You can see the score that we gave McCarthy Law at the top of this page, and you may have an idea of why we gave them that score based on the About section above. But to learn more, read our McCarthy Law review below.
Prospective clients to McCarthy Law are offered a free consultation with a debt settlement attorney. The attorney will create a customized savings plan that puts money to one side and then uses this money to negotiate the debts further down the line. During the program, the attorney will also deal with the creditors directly on behalf of the customer, which means they can wash their hands of the entire process and just wait for it to be over.
Unfortunately, there are upfront fees, the extent of which will depend on the amount of debt that the person has. These are not settlement fees, which are only charged after the debt has been settled and cannot be charged beforehand due to an FTC law. But fees are fees and they will still (understandably) cause issues for customers.
Team of Lawyers
When creditors sue debtors for unpaid debts, legal representation is key. It can help the debtor to avoid the stress and chaos of debt and litigation, although it won't guard them completely against litigation and there could still be additional issues down the line, leading to more fees and more problems.
Easy to Contact
McCarthy Law representatives are easily accessible, providing prospective clients with a variety of ways to contact them. Their corporate website provides a live chat option and they also have presence on multiple social media platforms, as well as a direct phone number.
We find that phone support is best, as live chat doesn't always put you in direct contact with an experienced specialist, but it's good to have these options on hand if you're short on time or if you need someone outside of normal working hours.
One of our biggest concerns is that McCarthy Law does not have any accreditations with trusted organizations like the AFCC and the IAPDA. These accreditations are common in the debt management and debt settlement industries and it's a concern to see that they are missing. However, as discussed already it's not that big of an issue when you consider that they have a team of qualified, licensed attorneys on staff.
It doesn't matter how much you value the aforementioned accreditations (and we value them a lot) you can't escape the fact that it takes many more laws and a lot more work to be a licensed attorney.
No Listed Fees and no Money Back Guarantee
The price structure for McCarthy Law is not noted anywhere on their website. However, following some additional research we discovered that McCarthy Law charges a flat fee after the debt has been settled and also charges additional amounts prior to the settlement taking place (most likely escrow and account/admin fees).
As far as we can tell, there is also no money-back guarantee on McCarthy Law. We're basing this on the fact that we can't find one mentioned on their website. Admittedly, this doesn't mean that one doesn't exist, but it's fair to assume that is the case. These guarantees are a pretty big deal in this industry and if McCarthy Law offered one you would expect them to shout it from the rooftops.
The Bottom Line
McCarthy Law PLC aids consumers struggling with debt by providing an attorney-based service that combines experience, skill, and a deep understand of the debt settlement process.
McCarthy Law offers free consultations that prospective clients can use to decide if they are a good fit, but for all of the good points here are also a number of bad ones. For instance, McCarthy Law does not have any valuable accreditations, they do not disclose their upfront fees, and they do not have a money-back guarantee.
